About Shu Sato
Shu Sato is a Japanese-born composer, music producer, and filmmaker based in France. Having grown up in Belgium, the United Kingdom, Japan, and North America, his music reflects a unique blend of Japanese sensibility and Western perspective, shaped by a multicultural upbringing.
Originally inspired by classical music and later immersed in alternative rock, jazz, and film scores, Shu developed a passion for storytelling through music and for translating emotions, memories, and life experiences into sound. His work ranges from intimate piano compositions to cinematic and richly layered pieces, often exploring themes of memory, nostalgia, and emotions.
Drawing inspiration from composers such as Joe Hisaishi, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Claude Debussy, as well as artists including The Beatles, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Kate Bush, and Spitz, Shu creates music that bridges cinematic, classical, rock, and contemporary influences.
In addition to composing, Shu produces his own films and visual projects, giving him a deep understanding of how music and imagery work together to create emotional impact. He is available for collaborations in film, documentaries, commercials, games, and other storytelling projects. Influences
